The automotive company announced the start of the commercialization of the 803 cc Ducati Scrambler Icon model, assembled in the Córdoba Industrial Center; becoming the third Ducati plant in the world outside of Italy.
The available versions will be Ducati Scrambler Icon (in two color options) and Ducati Scrambler Icon Dark.
This project is part of the 250 million dollars in investments confirmed by the group to the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, for the period 2022-2026. They will also be used for the renovation of the Amarok pick-up, the parts location project for the Taos SUV and the hot stamping process.
“To be able to start the commercialization of the Ducati Scrambler Icon that we proudly assemble in Córdoba is a great achievement for Volkswagen Group Argentina, since It is the first model of motorcycles that we produce in the country”, indicated Marcellus Puig, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group Argentina.

The announcement, made at the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires, was attended by the Secretary of Industry and Productive Development of the Nation, José Ignacio de Mendiguren; the italian ambassador, Fabrizio Lucentini; the Vice President of Sales and After Sales of Ducati Motor HoldingFrancesco Milicia and the President and CEO of Volkswagen Group ArgentinaMarcellus Puig, among other authorities.
“This milestone shows the capacity and talent that we have in Argentina and in this case in Córdoba, having been selected to be the first subsidiary of the VW Group in the world to produce the high-end motorcycles and the third plant outside of Italyadded the CEO.
The Ducati company began marketing its motorcycles through Volkswagen Group Argentina in 2013, after the Audi Group acquired the Ducati Motor Holding SpA holding company worldwide in 2012.

The vehicles already have a very good acceptance in the Argentine market: there are seven exclusive outlets and integrate the ranking of the five countries with the largest exclusive network in the world.

The Ducati network in the country is made up of the Monster, Hypermotard, Panigale, Streetfighter, Supersport, Diavel, Multistrada and Scrambler models. Each of them has a exclusive showroom where it is exhibited the entire range of models, clothing and accessories, including a separate area for the Scrambler line, as well as integrated technical service.
How the Córdoba plant works
The Cordoba Industrial Centera, with more than a thousand employees, is one of the eight industrial plants of the Volkswagen Group in the world that produces components; more than 700 million dollars of investment in the last 20 years.
Inaugurated in 1996, it stands out for its export activity; currently taking its products mainly to Brazil, Spain, Slovakia, India, South Africa, Mexico and Portugal.
