Weather: Next Week, winter slap! From Tuesday polar cyclone towards Italy, heavy effects

Weather forecast for next weekWeather forecast for next weekNext week: a winter slap on Italy is coming!
The confirmation has just arrived from the latest updates of the Calculation Centers: from Tuesday 17 January a polar cyclone it will decrease in latitude and it will affect much of Europeprovoking heavy effects also on Italy.

Already during the weekend and then above all Monday 16 January we will warn the first signs of a change of the time with the arrival of cold winds from the northern quadrants, with rains in the north-east, in Tuscany and a good part of the south. Heavy snowfalls are expected in the Aosta Valley which will then quickly spread to the rest of the Alps, with flakes as far as the valley floors; possible snow therefore in the city like Aosta, Trent And Bozen.
The map of the European Center that we offer below shows its own pressure structure with the polar cyclone, powered and propelled by cold air arriving from Greenland, which will embrace the whole of Western and Southern Europe.Cold downhill currents from the North Pole arriving next weekCold downhill currents from the North Pole arriving next week
The cold currents entering from the Rhône Gate (south-eastern France) will favor the formation of a second cyclonic vortex on our seas capable of unleashing intense rainfall, even in the form of storms and violent gusts of wind. Eyes focused, in particular, on the days of Tuesday 17 And Wednesday 18when there will be a risk of snow down to very low altitude (approx 150/200 metersif not lower in heavy showers) up Piedmont, western Lombardy (possible flakes also in Milan) and Emilia.

Subsequently, the deterioration will also extend to the rest of the North and furthermore to Tuscany, Lazio and Campania: as we can see from the map below they cannot be excluded of the real storms with the risk of locals too flooding (colored areas in yellowexpected up to 100 liters of rain per square metre; in the areas highlighted in color red even up to 150 liters of rain will be possible in 24 hours).Precipitation expected for Tuesday 17 JanuaryPrecipitation expected for Tuesday 17 January.
The Alps will fill up with accumulations up to over 1 meter above 1500 metres: this is excellent news for winter sports lovers, but also for nature in general. Think, for example, of our glaciers and all the other water resources put to the test during this so far very dry winter season.

Thursday 19 we will still have chance to rainfall on Liguria, lower Piedmont, lower Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, with snowfall up to lowland altitudes. Maximum attention also on the regions of Center-South where they will not be missing thunderstorms with hail due to the strong contrasts that will be created between different air masses and currents: on one side the cold Mistral on the other the Libeccio/Scirocco. Given the sharp drop in temperatures, the snow will return up to low altitude in the internal areas of the Center with flakes up to the hills (indicatively up to below 400 meters above sea level in the central-northern Apennines).

Given the still too high time gap, the uncertainties increase for the following period of increase. However, it seems that the cold and eventful phase can continue with the risk of new snowy surprises up to very low altitudes: however, we will update you on this in our next in-depth analyses.
