Weather: Christmas weekend, a strong anomaly confirmed throughout Italy between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day
Weather forecast for Christmas and Boxing DayChristmas weekend: a strong climatic anomaly is confirmed throughout Italy (for the period) as early as Christmas Eve and with effects until at least Boxing Day.
Something in terms of climate is undoubtedly breaking and the year 2022 that is about to end is an emblematic sign of this.
But let’s go in order. From the analysis of the cards at our disposal, it emerges as right in the next weekendbetween Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, a dominate the scene over a large part of Europe it will be a huge bubble of high pressure which, in fact, will block the atmosphere.
It is no coincidence that in technical jargon this particular pressure arrangement is called block to Omegafrom the Greek letter (Omega blocking, in English).
As can be seen in the map below, we can identify it as an anticyclonic area (indicated with the letter A) “blocked” by two low pressure centers (indicated with the letter B) which are located right on its sides, one in the ocean Atlantic and the other over Eastern Europe.
The result of this block is lo stationing of high pressure in the same area for a long time.

For all the Christmas weekend the weather will therefore be characterized by this sort of “anticyclonic monster” which will effectively prevent the perturbations from reaching Italy and, consequently, it is reasonable to expect sunny days in many regions.
So here it is profound anomaly right in a statistically and climatically very cold period: given the partly African component of the high pressure, the maximum temperatures will rise above the climatic averages and we do not exclude that they can be reached peaks of 24°Cespecially in the Centre-South and on the two Major Islands, values certainly more typical of the months of April and May that at the end of December. A few degrees less al North, but still around the 8/12°Cexcept where banks of fogpossible above all on flat areas, as well as on Alpine valleys.
As we can see from the map below, it is arather significant climatic anomalya sign of climate change underway with increasingly marked warming, which affects practically all of Europe: colour red indicates values up to 10°C above average which one would usually expect at this time.

The weather conditions will in fact remain blocked even at the start of next week and, according to the latest updates, they could be until the end of 2022: Winter KO therefore, even if to tell the truth all this is becoming more and more normal, with long warm phases and little rainfall (if not concentrated in a very short time and in small places: flash floods), a clear sign of the climate changes underway.
