Enterprise Minister Adolfo Urso met President Zelensky and government leaders in Kiev today, ”bringing President Giorgia Meloni’s message of full solidarity with the Ukrainian government and people”. This is what we read in a note from the dicastery. Urso announced that ”the organization of a big conference on reconstruction which will put Italian and Ukrainian institutional authorities and companies around the table”. The meeting in Italy that could take place in March. “My trip to Kiev confirmed the privileged relationship between our two countries”, she underlines. The meetings “confirmed permanent cooperation both in the reconstruction phase and in the long term”. According to Urso, Ukraine “looks to Italy and fully recognizes what the Italian people have done to support the country’s resistance and hopes that it will do the same for its rebirth”.
With the opportunity, Urso signed an agreement on technological and industrial cooperation with the deputy prime minister and economy minister, Julia Svyrydenko, who sets up a bilateral working group that will be able to coordinate industrial cooperation in some strategic sectors: logistics, industrial high technology, space, agricultural machinery, start-ups and SMEs, investment attraction, assistance for the development of a ‘made in Ukraine’ solidarity brand and collaboration in the exhibition sector with Ukrainian stands in Italian exhibitions. The exponents of the Ministry of Economy presented the 10 sectors in which they intend to create an industrial partnership with Italian companies and presented the guidelines on which the country’s reconstruction project will be based.
“I reiterated the Italy’s full support for an early start to reconstructionthe continuity of humanitarian aid and the careful consideration of requests for Ukrainian help for the reconstruction of strategic infrastructures, such as electricity grids, both in a bilateral and in a European context”, underlines Urso.
Urso met the head of the presidential office Andrey Yermak, the deputy prime minister with responsibility for the economy Julia Svyderenko, the deputy ministers for infrastructures, whose ministry also has the responsibility for reconstruction and the foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba. The delegation included the diplomatic adviser of Palazzo Chigi, Francecso Talò, the director general Amedeo Teti and the diplomatic adviser of Mimit, Mario Cospito.
In his meetings, Urso addressed issues relating to humanitarian aid and aid aimed at making up for the country’s energy crisis, also by sending generators. The issues of technological and industrial cooperation in view of the reconstruction of Ukraine in which Italy and the European Union will be engaged also in order to facilitate the country’s path towards the common European home are of significant importance.
In the meeting with Yermak, the minister examined the developments of the war and “what Italy can do further to support the Ukrainian defense. With a view to the visit of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, issues relating to the conference of donors and the perspectives of the peace plan”. In Kuleba he confirmed ”Italy’s commitment to assistance to Ukraine, both by applying the sanctions imposed on Russia and in humanitarian assistance and defence”. Zelensky awarded Urso the honor of merit of the Republicfor supporting the cause of freedom in Ukraine, thanked the Italian government for what it has done so far and invited the premier, Giorgia Meloni, to come to Kiev soon.
