The Italian version of the Saint

After a 2022 edition, relocated to Italy, and two canceled editions, the San Vincenzo dell’Amarone returns to Beaune. The 11th edition takes place at the Palais des Congrès on February 1, 2023.

After two years of cacophony due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the Saint-Vincent Tournante is making a comeback in Burgundy, as is the San Vincenzo dell’Amarone.

Celebrating the formalization of the twinning of Beaune and Castellammare del Golfo (Sicily), the 2022 edition took place in Italy. This year, it is Beaune’s turn to host the event at the Palais des Congrès on February 1, 2023.

For the return of the event to the lands of Beaune, Alain Suguenot, city councilor, has decided to open the doors of the Palais des Congrès to bring the two countries together. Piedmontese, Venetians, Tuscans, Sicilians… All the Italian wine regions will be represented by their craftsmen such as winegrowers, restaurateurs or producers. “Nearly 70 Italians come for the occasion“, rejoices Alberto Iacono, organizer of the event and president of the San Vincenzo dell Amarone association.

Every year is just a pleasure

Two planes will shuttle between Dole and Castellammare del Golfo to ensure the arrival of the inhabitants of the boot. “It is a cost of 84,000 euros“, emphasizes Alberto Iacono. Manufacturers of Sicilian ceramics will also be present. They will exhibit pieces, inspired by the history of artistic earthenware of the Italian island.

The San Vincenzo dell’Amarone was born in 2008 around a meal. “The event came out by chance“, recalls with nostalgia Alberto Iacono. At the table, Hubert de Montille, winemaker of the domain of the same name, and Giuseppe Careglio, winemaker of Valdinera wines in Piedmont in Italy, compete to know which are the best wines between the two regions. : Italy and Burgundy.

Alberto Iacono decides to decide by creating an event that brings together Burgundian and Italian winegrowers to introduce the two regions. “The initial idea was even to do blind tastings“, laughs the organizer. Year after year, visitors are there. “We had 150 people during the first edition, then 300, 800… This year, we hope to see 2000 people!“exclaims the Italo-Burgundian.

For the 11th edition, in 2022, the event is flying to San Vincenzo in Sicily, at the request of the mayor of the town of Castellammare del Golfo. For the occasion, a flight between Dole (Doubs) and Castellammare del Golfo was organised. “The return game” takes place on February 1, 2023 at the Palais des Congrès in Beaune.
