Rosaria Alvaro is the first Italian nurse Vice Rector at the University of Tor Vergata (Rome)

Rosaria Alvaro, Full Professor of General, Clinical and Pediatric Nursing Sciences at the Tor Vergata University of Rome, has been appointed Deputy Rector for Social Innovation Policies by the newly elected Rector of the University, Nathan Levialdi Ghiron, after the appointment of Prof. Orazio Schillaci to Minister of Health.

Rosaria Alvaro is the first nurse in Italy to hold the position of Pro-Rector of a University.

The assignment was formalized with the rector’s decree of 9 January 2023 and provides, as part of the University’s governance activities, for the conferral of specific function delegations in a position of direct collaboration and support to the Rector that Rosaria Alvaro will assist in their specific activities with particular reference to areas of particular strategic importance for the University.

Rosaria Alvaro is a professor of General Clinical and Pediatric Nursing Sciences with the title of Associate since 2005 and since 2018 as Full Professor of Tor Vergata University.

At the same University, he is president of the three-year degree course in nursing and the master’s degree course in nursing and obstetrics and is the coordinator of the professional profiles of the health area of ​​the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

She is delegate of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Tor Vergata University for student orientation.

He is a member of the teaching staff of the PhD in Nursing and Public Health at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

He is the President of the Italian Society of Nursing Sciences and President of the Med/45 Academic Board.

She has worked as a nurse since 1987, at the Sant’Eugenio Hospital in Rome, both in the operating room and emergency room and at the Nursing School. He held the position of Coordinating Professional Operator at the Otorhinolaryngology Division of the San Camillo Forlanini Spallanzani Health Authority in Rome and since 1996 as Executive Professional Operator – Head of Auxiliary Health Services at the Department of Hygiene and Public Health for the University Diploma in Nursing Sciences of the University of Rome Tor Vergata. From 2001 to 2005 you held the position of Head of Health Services for organizational support to clinical assistance activities at the “Tor Vergata” University Hospital – Rome.

Author of numerous publications in national and international journals, she is a member of the observatory of health professions and of the scientific committee of CERSI, Center of Excellence for Research and Development of Nursing, of FNOPI.

Rosaria Alvaro was recently named a Fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Nursing for her outstanding contributions to the nursing profession and achievements.
