Jalil will travel to Saudi Arabia for a mining forum and to Italy for a meeting with the Pope

Next Tuesday, Governor Raúl Jalil, together with other members of the cabinet, will travel first to Saudi Arabia and then to Italy, where he has scheduled an audience with Pope Francis, whom he will invite to visit Catamarca in April for the inauguration of the works that are carried out in the grotto of the Virgen del Valle.

While the presence in Saudi Arabia of the first provincial leader is related to his participation in an event linked to the search for investment for mining and also to efforts related to other areas of Government.

From January 10 to 12, the Future Minerals Forum will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Argentina will be the only Latin American country to participate in the event that will address issues related to mining, agribusiness, investment funds and renewable energy.

The delegation that will accompany Governor Raúl Jalil will be made up of the Minister of Economy, Alejandra Nazareno; the Minister of Mining, Marcelo Murúa and the president of CAMYEN, Susana Peralta. In addition, the Secretary of Mining of the Nation, Fernanda Ávila and the Secretary of Regional Development, Jorge Neme will travel.

As reported, the delegation will meet with officials of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, one of the largest in the world, to explore investment possibilities in the country, in addition to continuing the dialogue it currently has with the Ministry of Economy.

The agenda contemplates the meeting with Maäden, the Saudi mining company, in order to invite it to carry out exploration and develop investment works in the province of Catamarca as in the rest of the country.

On the other hand, meetings will be held with the Ministries of Energy; of Industry and Mining of Arabia; and Agriculture, to discuss possible cooperation projects between the two countries and for the creation of new markets for Argentine products.

Audience with the Pope

An audience with Pope Francis is scheduled for Wednesday the 18th at 9:00 a.m. The purpose of the meeting is to invite the highest authority of the Catholic Church to participate in the inauguration of the works that are being carried out in the sanctuary of the Virgen del Valle. The government’s intention is to inaugurate the work in April, when one of the Marian festivals is held.

Forum

The Future Minerals Forum “will connect global policy makers with investors and business leaders across the mining value chain and its supporting industries,” says the page promoting the activity.

“The conference and expo will promote strategic leadership and technical knowledge sharing, showcase advanced technologies and innovations, and facilitate new partnerships,” it says.

During his tenure, Jalil made several trips abroad that were questioned by the opposition. This would be the second time that he returns to Saudi Arabia since in February 2020 he was in Dubai and then visited Saudi Arabia, where he met Prince Faisal bin Bandar Al Saud.

Last year the president was in Dubai and then traveled to the United States as part of a tour with the governors of the Norte Grande.
