DAZN, the leading global sports streaming platform, premieres this Friday ‘Green Lions’, a production directed by Billy Dosanjh. This new documentary tells the inspiring and unknown story of a team that surprised the whole planet at the World Cup in Italy 90led by veteran striker Roger Milla.

‘Green Lions’, whose trailer is available on the official DAZN channel on YouTube, explores the untold story of the heroes of the Cameroon soccer team during the 1990 World Cup, when they became the first African nation to arrive to the quarterfinals of a World Cup, after defeating the then current world champion, Argentina, in the opening match and achieving what is possibly the biggest upset in the history of the World Cups. For three decades, the feat of that Cameroonian team has been told superficially or as part of larger stories.

Now, under the production of Yaw Basoah, DAZN takes viewers to the tournament field and, for the first time, the truth about that epic feat is told by those who starred in it in the first person.

The documentary offers exclusive interviews with the players of Cameroon’s World Cup Italia 90 team, including top scorer Roger Milla and captain Stephen Tataw, as well as a cast of soccer stars inspired by their achievements such as the legendary Gianluigi Buffon, the English star and rival in the quarterfinals John Barnes, the renowned Argentine striker Claudio Caniggia or the legendary Colombian goalkeeper René Higuita.

The story shows a team that dared to dream, achieving the impossible, inspiring a generation around the world and paving the way for a new wave of African footballers. ‘Green Lions’ allows you to enjoy the best history of one of the best tournaments in living memory.

For Tataw, captain of the team, that experience was incredible: “In 1990 we had the opportunity to play for our country. We became famous overnight. It was impossible to believe. We could not imagine that the future held great things for us & rdquor ;. The great star of the Cameroonian team was forward Roger Milla, although his presence in the World Cup was in doubt until the last moment: “I felt fit to continue playing, but I knew that my teammates would manage without me & rdquor ;. Milla, who arrived at the Italian event at the age of 38, had an outstanding role in the tournament and scored four goals: “It was an immense joy”.

Yaw Basoah, producer of the documentary, has indicated: “As for many other football fans, the World Cup in Italy 90 It marked the beginning of our love for this sport.
